although i gave her what i thought was a rather nice answer, she hasn't replied.. that's ok, i guess.. but it did remind me of the time my father served on a jc where they reinstated someone.

Wonderful news! Thank you all!!
by freeman ini want to thank so many of you for giving me the ammunition i needed to initiate actions that i hope will save at least one of my two children from the cult of the wtbts.
i have been able to undertake some positive actions in no small measure because of all you people here.
some of you may recall from earlier posts that two of my boys friends were dis-fellowed and that i went ballistic when my kids told me they were not allowed to talk to their best friends because the society says we cant.

by hawkaw inas of 6:02 pm last night i received a facsimile from paul hoeffel at the un on the wts.. he gave me 3 of the 4 things i requested in two paragraphs.. i have sent a scanned version to steve bates and someone else.. i sent it to kent and randy.
and kent and randy have posted the official united nations letter on their web sites.. here is the letter - put your cursor on the image and then right click on your mouse and hit "save image" to your computer.. .
after you look at kent's web site and you people still think this it is a fake letter, phone paul hoeffel yourself at (212) 963-8070.. hawk

Well I must say, WELL DONE!!!!
I would like to see the letter(on letterhead) posted online. I'd love to print out a copy for my JW mother who keeps insisting that all criticism of the WTS is "apostate crap". But then again, she'd probably claim that one cannot believe anything coming from "the Beast". LOL
If you speak with Paul Hoeffel again please give him a group thanks for supplying you the letter. He could have simply dismissed your request as part of a petty squabble, but he was kind enough to follow up.

I have never read that "when children in China recite things by rote in mass numbers, we call it propaganda". Actually, teaching children to repeat things as a group, like songs, poems, anthems, etc. has been used for a very long time. It's very effective. Not sinister at all. You appear to be confusing method with content.
Chanting things like "death to America" by Palestinian kids is sinister. But the Pledge of Allegience isn't evil or harmful. Only in the minds of a JW kook would that be the case. And I'm not saying you are a JW kook. I agree with you on most of the things you post. But I often get the impression that you still harbor cynisism towards the U.S. goverment. I don't know if it's residual from your days as a JW or if it's just a healthy mistrust of government. I mistrust bureacracies and politicians, but I love this country. When I reflect on what this country is, stands for, does for it's own people and others around the world, it makes me feel proud. When I think about the young men who for almost 300 years have paid the ultimate price for what we enjoy today, it makes me proud.
Is this country all good with no flaws? No, because I'm not all good with no flaws and you're not all good with no flaws. We are this country. It's our way of life that is threatened by these cowardly terrorists like bin Laden and his ilk.
I just wanted to point out the difference between the act of group recitation and the content of group recitation.

If they are prescribed by a licensed physician, I think the society has no position on them. If they do have an anti-position on mood altering prescripton drugs, then they need to talk to about 75% of all circuit and district overseers wives. They always appeared to be zombied up on something during my years as a JW.
I would like to get a T-shirt that advertises Prozac on the front and says, "Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut" on the back. Anyone know where I can get one?
